Ventanillas de Salud
In 2016 a partnership between the Mexican Consulate and the Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District began, which established the Ventanillas de Salud program. This effort sees the assistance of ‘promotoras,’ who work to send a message of Health and Wellness in the community through the many health fairs and symposiums they attend.
Ventanillas de Salud is a health outreach program implemented through the 50 Mexican Consulates in the United States providing health fairs through reliable information on health topics, counseling and referrals to health services available and accessible in local communities increasing the access to primary and preventive health.
Being that we live in one of the poorest counties in the State, with a poverty level of 24 percent, more than half the population is either uninsured or covered by MediCal. Working together with our Ventanillas de Salud partners we are working to target these families and enhance the quality of life for all through our Health and Wellness Health Fairs.
